Proposition 67 – The VWC urges a YES vote.  This proposition seeks to affirm SB 270, banning single-use plastic bags in California. This is extremely important for the environment. Measure D – The VWC urges a YES vote.  This measure raises the County sales tax by 1/2 percent (50 cents on every $100) for 30 years to fund various transportation projects, including $10 million set aside for presently unspecified safety improvements to the Highway 9 corridor in the SLV.  Other projects that will be funded include repairing local streets, adding two pedestrian/bike overpasses on Highway 1, adding some exit/entrance lanes to Highway 1, funding for certain METRO routes, and funding for free rides for seniors and people with disabilities through Community Bridges. Note that a 1/4 percent county sales tax is expiring in January, so the net increase from today is 1/4 percent.
