The Education Committee works on various education issues with the San Lorenzo Valley Schools, T-K through high school graduation. In addition, the Committee works on projects with the students to enhance their knowledge and appreciation of the unique environment where they live and to promote future caregivers for the protection and maintenance of our beautiful Valley. The VWC Education Committee also provides scholarships and our new McPherson Teachers Grant. Our scholarships and grants are funded by donations from the community and carefully managed investments. Wednesday, March 20th the Valley Women’s Club participated in the annual Kindergarten Roundup event at the San Lorenzo Valley Elementary School. The open house event is for families with children starting kindergarten in the fall. Parents and kids are invited to tour the school grounds, visit classrooms, speak to the teachers and principal, and get signed up for the fall. Every year the Valley Women’s Club has a table at the event offering free gift bags for the families that include school supplies, a coloring book, and information about the Valley Women’s Club. Thanks to Wendy Harris, Chairperson of the Education Committee, for planning this fun event.
