Gine Johnson Brings Info to Environmental Committee & Board
After a highly informative presentation by Gine Johnson, Project Manager of Monterey Bay Community Power, to the Environmental Committee, the group urged the VWC Board to support the study to determine the benefits and costs of forming a Community Choice Aggregation so that this region can better control its energy production, environmental impacts and costs. www.montereybaycca.org
The VWC Board decided, after considering additional information provided by Gine (who is well known as the former Executive Director of Ecology Action and founding member of the County’s Commission on the Environment, and currently a member of 5th District Supervisor Bruce McPherson McPherson’s Staff), to support the “Phase 1 Technical Study Project” with both an endorsement and $1,000 contribution to help the volunteer Project Team secure enough funding to conduct the Study.
The VWC agrees that this exciting project holds the potential for “exploring the future of a more energy resilient, economically vibrant and environmentally sustainable community” and could provide special benefits to the SLV.
