Gaining insights and skills in becoming better Board members and creating a more cohesive, focused Board were among the goals of the recent VWC Board retreat at Camp Joy Gardens, led by the talented facilitator, Judi Sherman.
One task undertaken was to take a look at our Mission Statement that had been written over fifteen years ago, replacing the original one. It’s a challenge putting so many ideas and goals into one short statement. You will see the results in the next newsletter.
The Board also decided to go through a Strategic Planning process to help focus on areas to improve. Improving our processes in order to be more effective in reaching goals and making things happen is an on-going process. A good example is the amazing work done by the Governance Committee over the past two years in improving our By-Laws and Policies & Procedures, and much more.
With new Board members coming on in 2015, it should be an exciting and effective way to improve the VWC even further.
