Consider Serving on the Board!
YOU are invited to consider serving on the VWC Board. Board elections are coming up in November, and with several members not seeking re-election or moving on to focus on interests, there are several seats available.
Board meetings are on the second Tuesday of the month, from 5:45 to 8 pm or so. There is time to relax and socialize before getting into the business part of the meeting at 6:30, since three different Board members provide dinner each month.
Each Board Member serves on two committees (some serve on more), helping assure the committees have the direct support they need to accomplish their goals. Committees include Education, Environmental, Women’s Issues, Scholarship, Budget/Finance, Governance, Community Grants, and more. As you can see, some are committees reaching out and serving the community; others are internal, helping the Club function effectively.
Exciting challenges and events are coming up the 2015, including continuing formulation of a Strategic Plan, celebrating the Hammer-Marcum Award (which takes place every two years in the Fall), and supporting the recycling centers through a difficult drop in volume impacting their income.
The Board is an amazing group of committed individuals, each with strong interests and willing to share ideas. It’s an exciting organization to work with and for. Things are changing and we hope you will consider serving on the Board. If you are interested, please contact Nominations Committee member, Roberta McPherson at 338-0815 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
