The 4th of July Parade in downtown Boulder Creek was a grand event, with hundreds of SLV folks lining Central Avenue (Hwy 9) to enjoy this true community event.
Our new SLV Redemption/Recycling Centers’ (RRC) Mascot, Rosie the Raccoon, debuted as the Valley Women’s Club “Grand Marshall.” Rosie’s custom-designed costume was modeled by our Board President, Roz Alley who wore the costume throughout the day.
Rosie was followed by the Racoonettes who sported raccoon hats while members of the environmental committee and RRC employees and their families danced down Central Avenue with banners and plastic jugs adding a percussive beat to our promenade. The finale of our entry was the 1980 El Camino driven by Linda Skeff, coordinator of our successful San Lorenzo Valley Restoration Project. The judges loved us… We were awarded 3rd Place!
