(Article from Felton Library Friends Email Announcement)
On June 23 the Board of Supervisors officially accepted the generous land donation by the well respected Verutti family to hold the long-planned Felton Library which has long outgrown the little former church where it is now housed. As a bonus, the County purchased the adjacent parcel, creating 2.03 acres for the project next to the Post Office. The additional parcel will allow for outdoor activities in conjunction with the public library.
Felton Library Friends thanked County officials for their unwavering support and commitment to this project, including former and current Supervisors Mark Stone and Bruce McPherson, who demonstrated strong advocacy on behalf of the citizens of the Valley to help enable the use of this parcel. It’s been a very long process driven by FLF leaders and Library Board citizen members past and present, especially Nancy Gerdt and Jim Mosher.
In the near future, plans for funding this much-anticipated branch will be proposed, and FLF will begin meeting regularly again to help drive that process.
Also, they’re hard at work on relaunching the FLF website and entering the world of social media. Stay tuned for more announcements soon! Join them!
