The community is invited to The Valley Women’s Club’s 41st Annual General Meeting, to be held on Sunday, March 24, from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM at the Highlands Park Senior Center in Ben Lomond. Congress Member Anna Eshoo will be a featured speaker, along with State Senator Bill Monning, State Assembly Member Mark Stone and County Supervisor Bruce McPherson. The Annual Meeting is a potluck lunch social, featuring delightful food and friendship that also includes a look at the VWC’s current issues of concern.
The Valley Women’s Club of San Lorenzo Valley was founded in 1978, and is known for its wide range of activities including thirty years of operating the SLV Redemption/Recycling Centers – now facing closure; the VWC’s Scholarship program – providing significant financial support for SLV graduates attending Cabrillo College; the Kindergarten readiness project; the upcoming 10th Redwood Mountain Faire – June 1 & 2; crucial environmental issues affecting our watershed – such as ill-conceived removal of healthy, mature trees by PG&E; the exciting Hammer-Marcum Award honoring local volunteers; and the Habitat Restoration Project – in its 4th year hosting an AmeriCorps team of young people from throughout the United States.
Those interested in joining the celebration to hear from our elected officials, meet the AmeriCorps Team, and find out more about the VWC, are welcome to attend! The event is free and open to the public. Please bring a food dish to share; beverages are provided. For childcare you must reserve by March 15th: call (831) 429-9641.
