This year was quite busy for the VWC Women’s Issues Committee. We actively supported the Women’s Commission request for a County ordinance incorporating CEDAW principles and the ordinance was passed by the Board of Supervisors in March. Santa Clara University invited us to participate in a graduate Gender and Engineering Seminar that was very well received.

We helped with the PR and took part in a countywide meeting on Women and Criminal Justice and had representatives at the California Women’s Agenda/Women’s Intercultural Network Women’s Equality Day Conference.

In 2013, we are planning to provide a special event for our local SLV community by bringing in a well-known speaker that will attract a lot of excitement. We will keep you posted about these plans.
