The Monterey Bay Unified Air Pollution Control District is starting a voluntary Spare the Air program this winter to reduce wood smoke emissions.
YOU can be informed when there is a SPARE THE AIR DAY by joining their email list and checking “Spare the Air.”
As we pointed out last month, there are many days of unhealthy levels of particulate air pollution, caused by old or improperly used wood stoves. These levels are real threats to the health of local residents.
MBUAPCD Supervising Air Quality Planner, Amy Clymo, was at the Environmental Committee’s November 1st meeting to present the plan and rationale for Spare the Air Days. She asked for ideas to promote support and participation, and the committee had many suggestions that she can readily use to help with outreach in the SLV.
We hope you will participate by signing up online, and also share this with everyone you know living in the SLV.
