Over 100 volunteers participated in the 28th Annual River & Road Clean Up on Saturday, September 20, 2014 and hauled more than four tons of material out of the San Lorenzo River and nearby roads. “We had a really great day” said Paul Machlis, a volunteer who cleaned up in the Felton area. “The weather was good, the volunteers seemed to be having a good time, and, most importantly, we filled the County and Water District dump trucks with a lot of junk.”
The junk removed from the San Lorenzo included mattresses, shopping carts, weight-lifting equipment, food and beverage containers, and a lot of miscellaneous garbage. The Scotts Valley Press Banner covered the event in this article.
