For many years hundreds of people took the bus to Big Basin State Park to hike and enjoy the Park, saving hundreds of car trips, thousands of gallons of gas, and untold reduction in air pollution. Those in the know would take the bus to the Park in order to hike over the mountains to the beach, where they could bus back to town.
With the recession hitting hard, the Big Basin line was one of those cut, forcing people back into cars to get to the Park.
On October 26 there was a ground breaking ceremony at the SCMTD’s property on River Street. They are starting the construction of a new “operations” building. At the ceremony we asked Les White (SCMTD General Manager) if there was any chance that the Big Basin bus service might be restored. He stated that METRO was planning to consider restoration of some of the cuts that were made last year, and urged that we write a letter in support of the idea.
The letter was written and sent, and now YOU can support the restoration of the Big Basin bus line by signing the petition on our website, and spread the word!
