Roz Alley, Education Committee Chair
There is a new pre-kindergarten school in the SLV especially designed for youngsters who are too young to go to kindergarten but certainly ready for a pre-school experience. It is the Transitional Kindergarten Program at Ludlow School in Felton. Twenty-five of the kindergarten “Ready for School” bags that the VWC Education Committee assembled and distributed went to the new school. Seventy of the bags were distributed at Boulder Creek Elementary with the help of Dusty Gipson (who helped spearhead the creation of the school bags program over five years ago), and her Girl Scout Troop. About eighty bags were distributed at San Lorenzo Elementary, thanks to the help of Vince Waskell and Donna Ziel.
Another bit of good news is that, thanks to the added contributions to the program, there are almost enough bags for the 2014-15 year as well. Additional donations are needed to expand and improve the bags and may be made to the VWC/Education Committee and sent to PO 574, Ben Lomond, CA 95005, or visit the VWC website to make a contribution via PayPal.
