2013 Hammer-Marcum Award Coming In Fall

The Hammer Marcum Award is coming next Fall, so it is now time to start gathering information about the person or people you would like to nominate for this wonderful honor. The Award was created in 1987 by the VWC to honor two special people in the SLV who had by that time given hundreds of hours to improve the quality of life of thousands of local residents: Mary Hammer and Annette Marcum. The Award is presented every other year to one or more individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the SLV through action, Awareness and leadership in environmental, educational, social and/or political concerns which affect the health and welfare of our community.

Your nominee must have worked for the SLV community for at least five years and done something notable within the last year. Activities may be work-related but should reflect a profound commitment to the SLV beyond his/her occupational requirements.
Nominees are most likely to receive the award if their nomination forms are highly detailed, so it is important to gather as much detail as possible about the person you can to see honored.
The deadline for nominations will be in September, and the nomination form will be online in two weeks, on the VWC website. The exciting presentation of awards, a wonderful dessert event at Highlands Park Senior Center, will take place in October.
