The Hammer-Marcum Award was created in 1987 by The Valley Women’s Club to honor two special people in the San Lorenzo Valley who had given hundreds of hours to improve the quality of life of thousands of local residents: Mary Hammer and Annette Marcum.

The Hammer-Marcum Award is presented to one or more individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the San Lorenzo Valley through action, awareness and leadership in environmental, educational, social and/or political concerns which affect the health and welfare of our community.

Criteria for the Award:

• Your nominee must have worked for the SLV community for at least five years.
• Your nominee must have done something notable within the last year.
• Contributions may be work-related but should reflect a profound commitment to the San Lorenzo Valley beyond his/her occupation.
• No one nominated may take part in any aspect of the evaluation or decision process in selecting Award recipients.

To Those Making Nominations:

• It’s helpful to give as much detailed information as possible so that a meaningful selection may be made.
• You are welcome to submit other information to make your case for why your nominee should be selected. Names and contact numbers of people familiar with the nominee would be helpful.
• Late or verbal nominations will not be considered.

The VWC Board will choose the one or more recipients and only the names of the honorees will be announced. Recipients (and those who nominated them) will be notified and invited to the Hammer-Marcum Award Celebration, along with the family and friends of the recipients, the public at large, our elected representatives and our members and friends. Awardees will be announced around Sept. 27^th.

The 2019 celebration will take place, Sunday, October 27th, 11:30 am to 2:30 pm at the SLV Senior Citizens Center at Highlands Park on Hwy 9 in Ben Lomond. Come and enjoy this joyous celebration, with light luncheon!
