On Saturday, November the 2, 2013, the Green Solutions Watershed Symposium will take place at the Felton Community Hall in the main auditorium from 1-5 PM. We are planning for 150 people to attend this event.
This is a FREE community event with a beautiful Celtic harp performance, three inspiring short films, two panel discussions featuring experts on local issues, children’s art, interactive displays from other nonprofits, hands-on activities, and healthy snack foods and drinks for all to enjoy!
GSWS will open with an original Water-themed performance by local Celtic Harpist Cathleen O’Connell, and will feature the works of three amazing local filmmakers. The films include “Liquid Assets, Protecting Our Creeks, Streams & Rivers,” by Ed Schehl and Lois Robin; “Natural Wonders of Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park,” by Fred and Roberta McPherson, and “Newts” by Lance Milbrand. These films had some of the most beautiful and remarkable footage you will ever experience.
There will be Green Solutions Make’n’Take tables providing recipes, demonstrating how to make your own non-toxic products, and showing how this is related to the health of our watershed. Each attendee will take home a free gift bag of inspiring educational materials (coloring book, stickers, Green Solutions products, etc). They will also be able to connect with the various local help groups and sign up for services or volunteering opportunities during this event.
For the benefit of the community, the Green Solutions Watershed Symposium will feature question and answer panels featuring local experts in water supply preservation/gray water installations, the new Stream Care Guide, and other environmentally sustainable solutions, and also discuss what we need to know about endangered Coho salmon and Steelhead trout in our watershed, our individual roles in watershed protection, and how to establish food sustainability for our local community.
